Statement from the Greenwood County Republican Party on the tragic and senseless assassination of Charlie Kirk

The Greenwood Republican Party joins millions of Americans in mourning the shocking and tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk. With heavy hearts, we extend our deepest condolences to his wife, his family, and the countless friends and supporters who now grieve alongside them. A devoted husband, a son, a leader, and above all a man of deep faith in God, Charlie’s life was cruelly taken in an act of cowardly violence. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, yet his impact will live on for generations.

Charlie dedicated his life to the peaceful defense of truth. He believed ideas should be tested in the marketplace of debate, not silenced with threats or bullets. His faith in God shaped his message and sustained his mission. Whether speaking to thousands of students or engaging a skeptic one-on-one, Charlie stood firm in his convictions but always sought conversation over conflict. His words reminded us that persuasion is stronger than intimidation, and that faith, family, and freedom remain the bedrock of this nation.

That is why this act of violence is not only a crime against one man, but an attack on our Republic itself. To strike down a voice of faith and reason is to attempt to strike fear into all who dare to speak freely. Those who justify, excuse, or even celebrate this evil share in its shame. Violence must never be allowed to triumph over truth.
